(Des Moines Register) — Former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum said Monday he doesn’t claim that all Muslims are radicals, and he believes that those who suffer the most from radical Islam are Muslims who suffer from persecution, such as people in Iran.
However, Santorum said he does believe that radical Islam is a “very dangerous thing” and that the Islamic world must work with the United States “to confront this cancer within.” The Pennsylvania Republican made his remarks in an interview with Des Moines Register political columnist Kathie Obradovich, who is conducting a series of talks with GOP presidential candidates in Iowa.
“Conversations with the Candidates: Rick Santorum” will air on Iowa Public Television at 6:30 tonight.
